JIO Phone Delivery Date
Now, here is some good news for people who have booked Jio Phone and are eagerly waiting for the Reliance 4G handset. Jio Phone deliveries will begin on Navratri i.e. September 21. Jio Phone pre-booking was suspended after the heavy rush. Reportedly, over 6 million phones have already been booked. However, the registrations for Jio Phone are still on.
Earlier, Reliance Jio had halted bookings for its first feature phone saying “millions” had already booked the Jio phone, but it did not give a concrete figure. Apart from the 6 million bookings, an additional 10 million people have registered interest in the device via the Keep Me Posted form on the company’s site.
The 4G feature phone was made available for pre-order against an online payment of Rs 500 and an additional payment of Rs 1,000 at the time of delivery. The handset is priced at Rs 1,500, but Jio will refund the amount after 36 months, making the device effectively free to consumers. At the RIL AGM, Mukesh Ambani had said that reliance jio plans to make 5 million units of Jio Phone available every week when it goes on sale.
Jio handsets are imported from Taiwan. These Jio phones will land at various locations in India, hence these locations may get the delivery first. Some of the locations where Jio phones will land first are – Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, and Ahmedabad.
JIO Phone Specifications:
The Jio Phone features a 2.4-inch QVGA display and is powered by either Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 205 or Spreadtrum’s 9820A chipset. The 4G feature phone runs on KAI OS and includes a voice assistant to navigate the device. It comes with 512MB RAM, 4GB internal storage, 2MP rear camera and a 0.3MP front camera. The Jio Phone also includes connectivity options like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS and NFC for digital payments.
When will the Jio Phone pre-orders start again?
Millions of people have booked it but many are still waiting for the pre-orders to start again. Although Jio claims that the pre-booking processes of the JioPhone will resume soon, some retailers claim that it may not, at least not anytime soon. The pre-orders which is expected to start around the first week of October.
With Jio Phone, reliance jio is also introducing a Rs 153 tariff plan specifically for the 4G feature phone. With the recharge of Rs 153, Jio Phone users get unlimited 4G data with FUP of 500MB per day and free voice calls and SMS benefits. Additionally, there is also sachet recharges of Rs 24 for two days’ validity and Rs 54 for a week-long validity. The feature phone also comes bundled with Jio apps like Jio TV, Jio Cinema, Jio Music and other apps. Jio Phone users can stream live TV using the Jio TV app. The phone is one of the biggest bets from the company since it rolled out its 4G-only service last year.

Jio Phone deliveries will start on Navratri, which begins on September 21 this year, the sources say. This will end the confusion about the Jio Phone delivery date as the company has not officially given a schedule yet, except that it will start shipping sometime in September. Bookings for the first Jio-branded phone from metros, tier-2, and tier-3 cities, and rural areas in roughly the same amount. Do note, customers will get the phone on the first-come-first-serve basis.
